3. Hypertherm  088096  Powermax 30 AIR Hand System with built in air compressor

best plasma cutter with built in air compressor 3 - Hypertherm Powermax 30 AIR

Hypertherm  Powermax 30 AIR is probably the best plasma cutter in this list. It is build in USA. It has great quality and cutting performance. Powermax 30 AIR plasma cutter with built in air compressor have dual voltage capability – it can run either 240V or 120V, you only need to change the cord. This is 30 AMP cutting system. Hypertherm recommends to cut up to 3/8 inches and up o 5/8 inches thick conductive metals in severance cutting, but video below shows that Powermax 30 AIR can also cut 3/4 inch steel plate with no problems and outperform manufacturer specifications.

It easy cuts stainless steel, cast iron and cast aluminium. When you go with 110V you can easy cut 3/8 inch, but with 1/2 inch thick metals is a challenge (better use 220V). Also dirty and rusty metals have no a problem, but make sure it have a good ground. It is always better to clean processable materials before cutting or doing something else with them. Built in compressor is quiet. It’s easy to perform free hand or straight edge cutting. Get good quality and long-life consumables for this plasma cutter is not a problem.

Hypertherm Powermax 30 AIR is easy to carry around because is light weight (approximately 35 pounds). It comes around   $1700, but you can get pretty much the same plasma cutter: Hypertherm Powermax 30 XP without built in air compressor for only around $1400 (prices can change in time). Note:

Plasma cutters with built in air Compressors are good for all people who works with metal like welders, plumbers, auto mechanics, construction workers, simple hobbyists and even ordinary people who sometimes need to cut some metal.

To be aware: plasma systems with built in air compressors usually works with standard household electricity and are meant for thin metal cutting (no more than 5/8 inches), but because they are so portable, it’s very easy to take the cutter with you everywhere. It can be your second plasma cutter, and you can leave the big one with external air compressor at home when you don’t need it.

If you choose plasma cutter, get the best plasma cutter you can afford. Cheapest plasma cutting machines can be good for hobby works, but if you want to cut metal every day, getting more expensive cutter definitely pays off. In this article are mentioned only cutters with built-in compressors. If you need more powerful machine read also about other devices without air compressor (you need to get it separately or you can use that you already have) here…
